Serendipity Sage

A bit about my sona and how she came about.

Name

First let's break down her name:

Serendipity - a "happy accident" or "pleasant surprise"; specifically, the accident of finding something good or useful while not specifically searching for it.

Sage - someone venerated for the possession of wisdom, judgment, and experience.

The first part of her name came about due to an actual experience. So her story is basically inspired by a true story, though doesn't actually follow the plot.

The second part came to mind when I tried to think of the type of pony she is, or rather the type of person I am. I am typically that friend that everyone goes to for advice and I'm not afraid to step in when I feel something needs to be said. I've learned through experiences and I try to help friends avoid making the same mistakes I have, or I at least try and help correct it earlier on before damage is done. So, I decided to make her a pony of wisdom. I probably did a horrible part on explaining that bit, but that's ok. At least I got my point across, or so I hope.

Cutie Mark

Her cutie mark concept is going to be the combination of a dragonfly and the sun.

Let's break down the symbolisms:

Dragonfly - 1. Maturity and a Depth of character, Power and Poise, Defeat of Self Created Illusions, Focus on living 'IN' the moment, The opening of one's eyes. 2. Transformation and Renewal, Freedom, Philosophy of Life and Death, Living Life to the Fullest, The Subconscious Mind.

Sun - Rebirth, Spiritual Growth, Happiness, Life, Hope (if the sun is rising).

Based on what I've already mentioned above, this should hopefully be self-explanatory.

Color Palette

Based on the symbolisms (yes, more symbolism!) I chose the colors Silver, Silver Blue, and maybe Light Blue or Sky Blue, but I'm still unsure about it.

Symbolism break down:

Silver - Intuition. Symbol of encouragement. Used to remove negativity, and invoke moon magic. Fosters hope, meditation, unconditional love, nurturing, grounding, appreciation of women and nature, mystic visions, spiritual and romantic love, tenderness, kindness, sensitivity and psychic abilities. Encourages stability; helps develop psychic abilities. Provides psychic protection.

Silver Blue - Increased psychic ability, lucid dreaming. Hope. Restful and peaceful. Aids Communication. Sincere affection.

Light Blue - Represents hope and faith. Harmony, peace and tranquillity, forgiveness, fidelity, honesty, patience and devotion. Used to purify the home. Need to learn from past mistakes; and take care in choices. Relieves anxiety and confusion.

Sky Blue - Increased psychic ability, lucid dreaming. Hope. Restful and peaceful. Aids Communication. Sincere affection.

This should also be self-explanatory.


So if you haven't figured out by now, a lot of thought has gone into my ponysona and I did quite a bit of searching through symbolisms. (:
